State regulations and the learning environment
Our Northeast region just concluded an outstanding conference focusing on state facility regulations and school facility design. We know some of these regulations are helpful to us while some are cumbersome and unnecessary. School planning and design regulations, sustainable design initiatives and school funding and equity issues were key topics that were discussed. If you attended these discussions, please share your thoughts.

It really was a great event, primarily (in my opinion, at least) because it allowed us to have a dialog with school facility regulators outside of the context in which we normally interact with them. We are putting together a summary of the conference for distribution to the membership, but in the meantime, the question I would put to each of you for response and discussion is: “Based on your own experiences, what do you think we (CEFPI) can do to improve the school planning and design regulatory process?”
